Policies – Procedures – Advice

Punctuality : Arrival and Pick-up
Arrival:
Punctuality on arrival is very important at Playhouse Daycare. Parents (and their child/ren) will be turned back should they come in later than prescribed time arrival times (see Hours above).

Pick-Up:
Being on-time at the end of the day is important to your child. If unforeseeable circumstances keep you from arriving on time, please contact the preschool. Someone will stay with your child until a parent arrives. The parent will be contacted after 15 minutes delay to determine the reason for the delay. There will be a financial penalty for every 15-minute increment you are late.

Child Pickup Policy
If someone other than the regular pick up person is coming to pick up your child, please let your child and the staff know!

We will require the request in writing supplemented with a picture of the person picking up.

Potty Training Policy
Playhouse offers potty training to children from 12 months to 36 months. Once a child turns 4 years old they will be required to be fully potty trained and attend to their own personal toilet needs themselves. This is in accordance with the British school standards in line with child protection laws for school. Thus our Parents need to continue educating their children at home to support the school’s policy and procedures. This includes everyday toilet routines continuing to be discussed while they are in the Just 4s on a daily basis. This is to ensure our children all are independent and capable of handling their personal toilet needs when they graduate from our environment.
Meals and Nutrition
Playhouse Day Care is committed to providing daily nutritional meals and snacks and does not allow foods to be brought from home.

Fruits, vegetables, dairy products, whole grains products are a part of our daily menu. Menus rotate every other week.

The food is served with milk, fruit juice or water.

There will be no food served that is high in sugar content.

High standards are maintained in the kitchen at all times. The kitchen is fully monitored by our CCTV surveillance system.

Our Managers and chefs are trained to produce a food standard that can`t be bettered; offering healthy eating with a balance between current eating trends, good nutrition and fresh home-cooked food.

Child to Teacher Ratio
Butterflies and Toddlers: 3 Children to 1 Teacher (3:1)

Pre-School and Primary One: 5 children to 1 Teacher (5:1)

Staff Educational Backgrounds

Our classrooms are led by degree certified teachers and are supported by experienced assistant teachers and caregivers.

We have a rigorous process of interviewing, to make sure we have the best staff possible.

All members of staff are First Aid trained

Behaviour

If a behaviour needs to be addressed, it is done so on an individual basis, using a positive discipline technique.

Children are coached as to what good behaviour looks like and communicated with using positive manners. A timeout technique may be utilized in some circumstances. We always try to focus on the positive, not the negative!

SEND / Additional Needs

Playhouse Daycare is an all inclusive school. Please speak to us about any additional needs of your child.

COVID-19 Policy

Playhouse has been committed to making sure that we have the healthiest and safest environment for all that visit Playhouse. This has encouraged us to constantly advance and update our procedures and policies as the health environment changes in the country.

We have a strict sanitation regime and health procedures implemented as well as abide to government guidelines for the safe reopening of schools.

Sickness Policy and Procedure
It is the Parent’s responsibility to inform Playhouse Day Care by 8.30am when the child is not going to be absence due to illness or has a contagious virus.

If a child develops a rash, skin discoloration, or other aliment that is of concern, the child will be returned home.

A child will not be accepted at Playhouse Day Care during the contagious period of a sickness or infection. Refer to your “Parent Guidebook” for Exclusion Periods.

Early Years Education from Birth
Parents should start considering their child’s educational foundation from birth.

A child’s early years are the foundation for his or her future development, providing a strong base for lifelong learning and learning abilities.

At Playhouse Daycare we work with children from 3 months to 5 years of age.

Each child that attends Playhouse is taken as an individual and meets their development milestones at their own pace.

We work to ensure all children will develop physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually and linguistically.

Our Classroom Sizes
For the Butterflies and Toddlers our capacity is up to 12 children. It is vital you join early to avoid disappointment.

The Pre-School classroom holds a maximum of 15 children and Primary One is limited to 20 children.

Daily Updates of your Child

Every day, unfailing, a virtual report is provided for each child detailing their daily activities, feeding, potty habits and naptime

Allergies

Every member of staff is made aware of each child’s allergies in the school and in their classes. Every classroom has the allergy list readily available.

The kitchen also contains an allergy list and special preparation of meals is provided as such.

Substitutions for things like milk may be provided to the school for your child and will be used in place of the allergy item.

Naptime

Naptime is held every day after lunch between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm
